It’s  fun it’s bright, it’s different, it’s edgy. It’s pink underwear! 🙂
Now that I have your attention, let me tell you of something awesome. Its monthly, its definite, its a must have or else your in trouble. What is it? * Drum roll…* BINGWA SPORTS QUIZ NIGHT! What did you think it was?  I digress… The 11th edition of Bingwa Sports quiz was spectacular. If you missed it, just pinch your self 40,000 times because that is how much money you just let slip away.

         

To newbies here, Bingwa sports quiz is held every first Wednesday of the month right here at Blanco’s Sport’s Grill. Sponsored by Super Sport, Dstv and other partners like Barclays bank, it is a monthly quiz night for sports fanatics and all those searching for a fun thing to help you unwind with your friends.The event is organized by IScan media in conjunction with Blancos Sports Grill, Super Sports, Dstv and others. The grand prize is the Kshs 40,000 that the winning team gets to walk away with, and the runners up get great branded merchandise from Super Sport and the Kenya Premier League jerseys.

 

This time, people came in troops and they were all guns blazing. All teams were breathing fire and itching for a fight. A mental brawl and battle of the sharpest.A team that particularly stood out in terms of energy were the van full of pakistanis. Looks like their whiskey was doing good things to them. Of noteworthy mention was the presence of the staff of the Barclays bank and their added help. Plus Dstv was at hand with their Dstv Walkas and other decoders.

The night started bright and early with people streaming in as the jam outside cleared. Our flamboyant host Edward Kwach cruised in with all his vocal splendor. The in no time it was time to separate the true sports fans from the groupies. After a spirited fight, these were the top teams:-

1. Armchair Analysts
2. Another van full of pakistanis

The armchair analyst were the defending champions and solidified their claim to the crown with a second hefty check the second time round. Who will dethrone these sports fireballs? Tell a friend to tell a friend to tell other friends to come down to Blanco’s next month for the 12th Bingwa Sports Quiz.

Another van of pakistanis might have as well been the winners because they only lost by one point to the winners. They are however true sports people as they still had a ball afterwards and seemed to have motives of bringing the roof down with their enthusiasm.

Before I forget, there is the guy who won the Dstv Walka from the individual question session. Mr Keith!! Big up to you sir! This was his second Dstv Walka in a row!!He might start thinking of putting up a cabinet for that. I think his brain is segmented in Super Sport one , two , three and e.t.c  because to get those questions, you’re either Wikipedia or a certified sports genius.

BIngwa will be back and certainly bigger. Mark the first wednesday of each month as a sacred day to all who claim to be sports fans. Next month it will be on 7th of November. See you there!!

Explosive 10th Edition of Bingwa Quiz night!!

        

When we said that Bingwa Sports Quiz at Blanco’s Sports Grill Galleria is getting bigger and better, we meant just that.The event organizers, iScan Media, did a superb job at putting the whole night together in conjunction with SuperSport and Blanco’s Sports Grill.

The house came alive with live Deejay music as the contestants and other clients streamed in. The energy was palpable and you could tell from the get go that the night was going to be memorable. Our host , Edward Kwach,walked in Fashionably late as usual. But as soon as he picked up the mic, he set the ball rolling and got the show on the road. SuperSport came through in a big way and got the restaurant looking great with the SuperSport branded stands.

Lucky attendees got beautiful SuperSport branded caps when they answered some trivia questions asked randomly by our host, Edward Kwach.

This time round, there were nine teams namely;

I must say that the teams got quite creative with their names this time round. Then it was time for the battle of the titans. There were three rounds of rapid fire questions and a fourth round of pictorial recognition. SuperSport had a Dstv walker up for grabs and members of some competing teams where called upon to answer some questions and one person would get to walk away with it. The luck fellow was one Keith from Black bar.

The guest of honor was Olympian Kenyan representative in 2012 javelin competitions, Julius Yego. He did the honors of awarding the successful teams and gave a great speech. Mention one Olympian that you have ever come within touching distance of?.. None! So Blanco’s Sports grill is definitely the place to be in Nairobi!

After all the blood, sweat, screams and tears, the top three teams of the Bingwa Quiz night 10th Edition courtesy of SuperSport were: From the first to the third;-

1. Armchair Analysts– These fellows stunned the Bingwa veterans as they were new comers but came in guns blazing and managed to successfully walk away with the 40,000 cash prize plus some SuperSport Merchandize.

1. Howard web– These are the winners of the 9th Bingwa Quiz night but were dethroned by the new boys in town. They however put up a good fight and walked away with food vouchers from Blanco’s Sports Grill plus KPL team Replica jerseys of their choice with personalized inscriptions.

1. Bar Analysts reloaded _ This are true Bingwa Quiz night veterans but they usually get just close enough to the top to smell it but far enough to feel the pinch. They still did a great job and walked away with KPL replica team jerseys of their choice plus Food vouchers from Blanco’s Sports Grill.

So if you don’t show up for next month’s Bingwa Quiz night, you will have no one to blame for loosing out a chance to win great prizes, meet some new people and eat amazing grills from our mouthwatering menu.

Bingwa Quiz Night Gets Bigger and better!!

Another month is here with us and you know this means one thing to all sports enthusiasts. Bingwa night is back!  This months Bingwa night at Blanco’s Sports Grill Galleria is on 5th September 2012, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. In this 10th edition of Bingwa Sports Quiz, SuperSport have come in in a big way to make it bigger and better.

For those in the dark about the Bingwa Sports Quiz, here is a sneak peak.

This is a thrilling social event who`s main highlight is a sports quiz comprising of questions from ALL genres of sports with 60% from local sports. This is an event that aims to encourage, recognize and reward knowledge/interest in local sport on a mature and entertaining manner. Teams comprise of a max of four people. Participants pay a token 500ksh to participate in the quiz. Up for grabs is 20,000Ksh CASH, KPL Jerseys, DSTV Walka, Vouchers, etc.

This event is aimed at promoting local sports and rewarding local sports enthusiasts for their support/interest in local sports. Apart from the quiz night their are high tempo music mixes at interludes to shake your legs, fun sporty games, good offers on cocktails, sizzling grills and a chance to rub shoulders with your favorite local sports personalities, it is rumored Julius Yego Kenya`s first ever Javelin Olympian will be the guest of honor this time.

It takes place at Blancos Sports Grill, Galleria mall on every first WED of the month from 7p.m. to 11p.m and is usually hosted by the outspoken sports journalist, Edward Kwach.

Bingwa Sports Night review

Blanco’s Sport’s Grill holds a monthly sports quiz on the first Wednesday of each month and this month was no different. Hosted by the outspoken Radio presenter, Edward Kwach we were proud to have held the tenth edition of Bingwa Sports Quiz, dubbed The Olympics Edition. Just last week, we hosted groups of sports enthusiasts and fanatics who came to test their sports knowledge and goolgling speeds. For those unfamiliar with this Sports night, here are some of the things that go on.

• Guests arrive and register teams of a maximum of four people.
• The questions are given in four rounds. In each round, the questions are all read out with an interval of a few seconds between them. After all the questions of the respective round are read out, the groups have 30 seconds to hand in their answer sheets to the ladies that are stationed strategically.
• The last round is pictorial where pictures of sports personalities are shown and groups are expected to figure out who they are.
• The scores are then all tallied and the winning team is decided. If there is a tie, a tie breaker question is answered.The second team wins Jerseys. The winners walk away with Kshs 20,000 and each of the members walks away with a One year subscription to Go- Places privilege card from Go Places Kenya, which allows them access to 15 – 30% discounts from over 600 discount partners .

Last week’s Bingwa night was full of energy and all teams came guns blazing. Even new comers to the night managed to scoop the third position. The defending champions emerged second place after they lost the tie breaker question that tested their inner sports fanatic. The Deejay kept the spirits and energy upbeat with his music mixes and with all matters considered, it was a night to remember for all who participated or watched.

So next month, make sure to drop by and participate in this fun competition. It is open to all and sundry. The only requirement is yourself, lots of energy and your team mates then the fanfare begins!
